THE PRODUCTION OF AMIKA POWDER COATINGS
Technological map
Production of powder coatings begins with the technological map. According to the job shift and production plan, the technologist gives it to the staffer. The map shows: the name and quantity of raw materials for the weighing, equipment parameters, step-by-step operations and operations manual, table for step control powder coatings production.
Composition of powder coatings
If we generalize the composition of the powder coatings, it consists of a film-forming agent (resin, about 60 % by weight.), filler, (about 40 % by weight.), functional additives and pigment. The accuracy of dosing components measured to hundredths of a gram using electronic scales.
Remove unnecessary
Before getting into the box, the powder coatings passes the screening stage through a vibrating sieve. During this process, mechanical impurities and large particle aggregates removed from the powder. Next, the powder coatings is put in corrugated boxes, packed and sent to its Costumer.
Control check
The last quality control on compliance to technical requirements of the Customer takes place on the packing line, and also granulometric structure is checked.
The number of checks depends on the volume and formulation of the paint produced: in batches of up to 100 kg each box is checked.
ЕIf the volume is more than 100 kg - control passes each 5th box. Regardless of whether it is 200 kg or 10,000 kg.
BRIEF SUMMARY: 6 STAGES OF PRODUCTION OF AMIKA POWDER COATINGS:
1. Dosing of components
- According to the technological map, all the necessary components are loaded into the mixing container.
- The dosing accuracy is controlled by electronic floor scales.
2. Mixture
-
The mixing mode is set by the program on the mixer control panel.

Chilled water is supplied to the mixing head of the mixer in order to avoid overheating.

At the end of mixing the finished mixture (premix) in the container is transported to the extrusion site.
3. Extrusion of the mixture
- Hot mixing of components is carried out at a temperature of 90-120 ° C in continuous - action devices – extruders, with a clearly adjustable heating and cooling system.
- The hot melt is squeezed out of the die (hole discharge ) of the extruder and enters the cooling shafts of the continuous cooling system. Passing between the two cylinders, the melt is rolled to the form of a tape 0.5 - 1.5 mm thick, cools down and turns into a solid state..
4. Crushing
- The cooled melt is fed through a belt conveyor to the shredder, where it is crushed to the state of flakes (chips) 10x10 mm in size.
5. Grinding and classification
- The resulting extrudate is fed to the grinding mill. Grinding of chips takes place on the installation, which includes:
- turbofan;
- impact-centrifugal mill-classifier ;
- cyclone with unloading gateways system;
- sieve;
- fine cleaning system.
- The turbofan creates an adjustable air flow through which the chips are transferred to the mill-classifier , which operates on the principle of shock-centrifugal grinding.The air flow directs the crushed product to the cyclone and then to the vibrating screen.
- On the sieve there is a control sieving to exclude large fractions and mechanical inclusions.
6. Packaging
- The finished powder coatings is sacked in boxes of corrugated cardboard with plastic bags-inserts.
- At the stage of packing there is a final control of quality of powder coatings (read in the section "Laboratory") and selection of the arbitration sample for further storage for 18 months.
- Sealed boxes are stacked on a pallet and wrapped with stretch film.
